Paul d'Amour

Paul D'Amour (born May 12, 1967 in Spokane, Washington) was the original bassist for Tool. Originally a guitar player, D'Amour became Tool's bassist after being introduced to the band by guitarist Adam Jones. Like Jones, D'Amour was in Los Angeles because of his wish to enter the film industry. He hadn't played music for a while and was thinking about giving it up.In 1995 D'Amour left Tool because of a desire to do something more experimental. After his departure from the band, he formed the critically acclaimed psychedelic pop band Lusk with Brad Laner, Chris Pitman (now of Guns N' Roses), and ex-Failure member Greg Edwards (now of Autolux). In 1997 they released their only album to date, titled Free Mars.

Nachdem er Adam kennenlernte, wurde er von diesem der Band Tool vorgestellt und trat ihr kurze Zeit später bei.1995 trennte er sich jedoch aufgrund von künstlerischen Differenzen von der Band. Fu introdotto nei Tool grazie ad Adam Jones nel periodo in cui studiava a Los Angeles per l’industria cinematografica. Non suonava da un po’ e stava pensando di abbandonare tutto. Era sempre infuriato, e la musica dei Tool faceva perfettamente al caso suo. Paul suonava la chitarra nei Replicants, una cover band che includeva membri dei Failure, ed eseguivano brani di chiunque, dai Missing Persons ai T-Rex, ed hanno un disco pubblicato per l’etichetta Zoo. Paul lasciò i Tool per un cambiamento dei suoi gusti musicali preferendo fare qualcosa di più sperimentale anziche riff di chitarra heavy e potenti.
