Paul Simon

Paul Frederic Simon (born October 13, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. Simon is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, both as half of the folk-singing duo Simon and Garfunkel and as a solo artist. In 2006, Time magazine called him one of the "100 people who shape our world." As of 2007, he resides in New Canaan, Connecticut.

Paul Frederic Simon (* 13. Oktober 1941 in Newark / New Jersey) ist ein US-amerikanischer Musiker und Schauspieler.Zusammen mit seinem Freund Arthur Garfunkel, den er im Frühsommer 1953 bei den Proben zu dem Schauspiel „Alice im Wunderland“ kennenlernte, bildete er zunächst das Musiker-Duo Tom and Jerry (nach den gleichnamigen Zeichentrick-Figuren). Später nannten sie sich schlicht „Simon and Garfunkel“, wobei Simon praktisch alle Songs komponierte. Der kommerzielle Durchbruch gelang ihnen im Jahre 1965 mit dem Lied The Sound of Silence.

Paul Simon najbardziej znany jest z występów w duecie z Artem Garfunkelem - Simon and Garfunkel, lecz już w trakcie współpracy z nim, jak i po rozpadzie duetu prowadził bardzo owocną karierę artysty solowego. Paul Simon zainteresowany był także egzotycznymi kulturami muzycznymi. Już we wczesnej fazie twórczości ulegał wpływom latynoskiego folkloru.

Paul Frederic Simon, meglio noto come Paul Simon, (13 ottobre 1941, Newark Heights, New Jersey) è un celebre cantautore rock statunitense, membro dello storico duo Simon & Garfunkel. Dal 30 maggio 1992 è sposato con la folk singer Edie Brickell. Ha quattro figli, il primo dei quali, Harper Simon, è un chitarrista. Nel 2002, Simon ha ricevuto i Kennedy Center Honors.
