Paul the Apostle ( AD 5 – AD 67; variously referred to as the "Apostle Paul" or "Saint Paul"), also known as Saul of Tarsus, is perhaps the most influential early Christian missionary. The writings ascribed to him by the church form a considerable portion of the New Testament. The influence on Christian thinking of the epistles ascribed to him has been significant, due in part to his association as a prominent apostle of Christianity during the spreading of the Gospel through early Christian communities across the Roman Empire.

Paulus von Tarsus (griechisch παΰλος, hebräischer Name שָׁאוּל, Scha'ul, davon lat.: Saulus; † nach 60, eventuell in Rom) ist nach der Überlieferung des Neuen Testaments (NT) der erste und wichtigste Theologe der Christentumsgeschichte und wohl der erfolgreichste Missionar des Urchristentums.

Içe, en Turquie) – mort v. 65 à Rome) est l'une des figures principales du christianisme, par le rôle qu'il a joué dans son expansion initiale, et par son interprétation de l'enseignement de Jésus. Selon le Nouveau Testament (livre des Actes des Apôtres et Épîtres  de Paul), Paul se revendique comme l'un des apôtres de Jésus-Christ qui, quelques années après sa mort, sa résurrection et son ascension, lui serait apparu et l'aurait converti.
