Doñana National Park is located in Andalusia, in the provinces of Huelva and Seville, and covers 543 km²(337.41 mi²), of which 135 km²(83.89 mi²) are a protected area. The park is an area of marsh, shallow streams, and sand dunes in Las Marismas, the Guadalquivir River Delta region where it flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The original area was established in 1963 when the World Wildlife Fund joined with the Spanish government and purchased a section of marshes to protect it. There has been a constant threat to the eco-system, that of drainage of the marshes, the use of river water to boost agricultural production by irrigating land along the coast, and the expansion of tourist facilities.

Der Nationalpark Coto de Doñana (auch Parque Nacional de Doñana) an der Costa de la Luz in Andalusien ist heute, nach der Erweiterung 2004, 54.252 Hektar groß, dazu kommen noch einmal 26.540 Hektar als Pufferzone (preparque). Er ist Spaniens wichtigstes Feuchtgebiet. Dies liegt vor allem an den marismas; einem flachen, periodisch überschwemmten Feuchtgebiet. Es entstand aus den riesigen Sedimentmengen, die der Guadalquivir in seinem Delta ablagerte. Ein Teil des ins Meer gelangenden Sandes wird von diesem wieder an Land abgelagert und bildet die gewaltigen Dünen, die die marismas vom Meer trennen. An der windabgewandten Seite wurden diese Dünen bereits von der Vegetation befestigt, hier entstanden auf den stabilisierten Sanden typische Strauchformationen.

Le Parc national de Doñana est l'un des plus grands sites naturels protégés d'Europe, il se situe en Espagne sur le territoire de province de Huelva, et dans une moindre mesure, sur celui de la province de Séville.

Park Narodowy Doñana w Hiszpanii rozciąga się na powierzchni 50 tys. 720 ha, na południowym wschodzie Półwyspu Iberyjskiego. Większość jego obszaru należy do prowincji Huelvy, część (o niewielkim znaczeniu ekologicznym) do prowincji Sewilli.
