Feeding Habits
Live fish, brine shrimp, blood worms, glass worms and tubifex worms. Frozen daphnia, plankton, blood worms, brine shrimp and glass worms. Freeze dried and flake foods also accepted.
Compatibility
A peaceful and territorial species that will defend their territory from other tank mates. Mix with the same sized fish, as they will eat smaller fish. Adult males should be kept one per aquarium as they tend to fight as ferociously as male bettas.
Habitat
China-Korea: Moderately decorated with live plants, driftwood and rocks.
Breeding
The male has the longer fins and deeper body colors. During spawning up to 500 eggs can be produced and are placed in the bubble nest the male has built.
Additional Comments
They are good jumpers so a covered aquarium is recommended. Their feelers under their body are used to check out new objects and fish in the aquarium.
