Pantheon (gods)

A pantheon (from Greek Πάνθειον, temple of all gods, from πᾶν, all + θεός, god) is a set of all the gods of a particular polytheistic religion or mythology.Max Weber's 1922 opus, Economy and Society discusses the link between a pantheon of gods and the development of monotheism.Pantheon can also refer to a temple or sacred building dedicated to all the gods of a particular religion. The most famous such structure is the Pantheon of Rome, built in the year 27 BC to honor the Roman gods. It was later renovated for use as a Christian church after the fall of the Roman empire.

Le Panthéon est un temple que les Grecs et les Romains consacraient à certains de leurs dieux, par exemple le Panthéon de Rome, dédié à tous les dieux. Ce terme désigne aussi l'ensemble des dieux d'une mythologie ou d'une religion. En grec ancien, (pãn) signifie « tout » et (theos), « dieu ».

Le Panthéon est un monument de style néo-classique situé sur la montagne Sainte-Geneviève, dans le 5 arrondissement de Paris, au cœur du quartier latin. Il est entouré notamment par l'église Saint-Étienne-du-Mont, la bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève, l'université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne), l'université de Paris II (Panthéon-Assas), la mairie du 5 arrondissement et le lycée Henri-IV. La rue Soufflot lui dessine une perspective à partir du jardin du Luxembourg.

Pantheon (von griechisch παν pan „alles“ und θεός theós „Gott“) ist der antike Name für ein allen Göttern geweihtes Heiligtum.Diese Vorstellung stammt aus dem Umfeld der sumerischen, griechischen und manichäischen Mythologie und wird bald mit einem konkreten Ort bzw. Tempel verbunden. In letzterem Sinne wurde die Vorstellung in die römische Welt übertragen. Da das Pantheon in Rom das einzige gut erhaltene Pantheon als Bauwerk ist, ist es zum Inbegriff für weitere Bauwerke mit einer ähnlichen Funktion geworden.

Panteony były popularne zwłaszcza w okresie cesarstwa rzymskiego. Najbardziej znanym zabytkiem tego okresu jest Panteon w Rzymie. W XVI wieku zaczęto naśladować rzymskie zabytki, wzorując się na Panteonie budowano w formie rotundy, mauzolea, a nawet pawilony ogrodowe.

Man kan alltså tala om hinduismens pantheon eller ett nordiskt pantheon och då sammanfattande mena alla de gudar som finns inom den specifika mytologin. Ordet kommer från grekiskans pan - "alla" och theos - "gud".
