The Pannonian Basin or Carpathian Basin is a large basin in East-Central Europe. The geomorphological term Pannonian Plain is more widely used for roughly the same region though with a somewhat different sense - meaning only the lowlands, the plain that remained when the Pliocene Pannonian Sea dried out. It is a geomorphological subsystem of the Alps-Himalaya system. The river Danube divides the plain roughly in half. Most of the plain consists of the Great Hungarian Plain (in the south and east, including the Eastern Slovak Lowland) and the Little Hungarian Plain (in the northwest), divided by the Transdanubian Mountains.

Die Pannonische Tiefebene (auch Pannonisches Becken oder Karpatenbecken) ist ein ausgedehntes  Tiefland im südlichen Ostmitteleuropa, das vom Mittellauf der Donau und vom Unterlauf der Theiß durchquert wird. Das Becken liegt großteils in Ungarn, doch haben 5 weitere Staaten Anteil daran. Geologisch hängt es mit dem (viel kleineren) Wiener Becken und der Gebirgsbildung des Karpatenbogens zusammen.

La plaine de Pannonie est une grande plaine sédimentaire du centre et du sud-est de l'Europe qui est le résultat de l'assèchement de la mer de Pannonie du Pliocène (bassin pannonien). Le Danube divise grossièrement la plaine en deux.

Kotlina Panońska (węg. Kárpát-medence) - wielka równina w środkowej Europie, należąca pod względem geomorfologicznym do systemu alpejsko-karpackiego.

De Pannonische vlakte is een grote vlakte in centraal/zuidoost Europa die ontstond toen de Pannonische Zee (in het Plioceen) opdroogde. De Grote Hongaarse Laagvlakte (Alföld) vormt de kern van het gebied.
