Pangasinan province

Pangasinan is one of the provinces of the Republic of the Philippines. The provincial capital is Lingayen. Pangasinan is located on the west central area of the island of Luzon along the Lingayen Gulf. The total land area of Pangasinan is 5,368.82 square kilometers. The total population of Pangasinan is 2,434,086 as of 2000, and projected to be 3,039,500 in 2010. (National Statistics Office, 2000 Census). The Pangasinan language is the primary language in Pangasinan. The estimated population of the indigenous speakers of the Pangasinan language in the province of Pangasinan is 1.5 million.

Pangasinán ist eine philippinische Provinz in dem Bezirk Ilocos auf der Hauptinsel Luzón. Die Hauptstadt der Provinz ist Lingayen, welche am gleichnamigen Golf von Lingayen sowie an der Mündung des Flusses Agno liegt. Pangasinán grenzt an weitere Provinzen, wie La Union und Benguet im Norden, Nueva Vizcaya und Nueva Ecija im Osten sowie Zambales und Tarlac im Süden. Im Westen befindet sich das südchinesische Meer. In der bereits 1578 gegründeten Provinz, welche eine Fläche von 5.368 km² besitzt, lebten im Jahre 2000 etwa 2.434.000 Menschen, wodurch sich eine Bevölkerungsdichte von 453 Einwohnern pro km² ergibt. In dem Gebiet wird neben Pangasinán auch Ilokano und Bolinao gesprochen. Der Anteil von Pangasináns und Ilokanos ist etwa gleich groß. Derzeitiger Gouverneur von Pangasinán ist Victor Agbayani.
