Palpatine

Palpatine is a fictional character in George Lucas's science fiction saga Star Wars. He was introduced in the films Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983) as the Emperor, an aged, cowled, and pale-faced figure who walks with a cane. Palpatine appears in the prequel trilogy as a middle-aged politician in the Galactic Republic who rises to power through deception and treachery. The character is featured in the animated miniseries Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003–2005) and in Star Wars literature. Scottish actor Ian McDiarmid portrays the character in the Star Wars feature films.

Imperator Palpatine (wcześniej senator Republiki, Wielki Kanclerz Republiki) to postać fikcyjna, jeden z bohaterów Gwiezdnych wojen. Znany też jako Darth Sidious, Mroczny Lord Sithów.Po raz pierwszy, epizodycznie, Palpatine pojawia się w filmie Imperium kontratakuje, odgrywany przez nieznaną aktorkę (głosu użycza mu Clive Revill). Niemniej był on zapowiedziany już w części IV (pierwsza wg daty wydania) jako ten, który rozwiązał Senat. Począwszy od Powrotu Jedi postać tę odgrywa Ian McDiarmid.

Palpatine è un personaggio immaginario dell'universo fantascientifico di Guerre Stellari, presente in entrambe le trilogie di George Lucas. Era il Cancelliere della Repubblica Galattica eletto dopo Finis Valorum, e in seguito Imperatore dell'Impero Galattico. Palpatine è un personaggio importante nella saga di Guerre Stellari, in quanto compare in tutti i film della serie eccetto Una nuova speranza, ed è trattato approfonditamente nella serie Star Wars: Clone Wars. Il personaggio è esplorato nell'universo espanso, sia nei romanzi che nei fumetti, dove viene spiegata la sua influenza all'esterno dei film. L'Imperatore è stato menzionato per la prima volta in Una nuova speranza (1977) ma la sua prima comparsa in "carne e ossa" è avvenuta nel film successivo, L'Impero colpisce ancora (1980). George Lucas e Irvin Kershner hanno rappresentato l'Imperatore come un uomo molto vecchio dall'aspetto pallido. Nel 1999, con l'uscita di La minaccia fantasma, Palpatine è stato rappresentato come un uomo di mezza età sui 50 anni, dalle maniere gentili e condiscendenti. In L'attacco dei cloni Palpatine ricopre un ruolo minore, rimanendo per la maggior parte dietro le scene.

Palpatine (circa 84 BBY - 11 ABY), beter bekend als Darth Sidious, Dark Lord van de Sith, is de centrale slechterik in de Star Wars-sage. Hij is aanwezig in alle films, behalve in A New Hope, waar alleen naar hem verwezen werd met zijn titel: De Keizer (The Emperor). Palpatine wordt gespeeld door Ian McDiarmid. Sidious deed zich voor als een senator en later doet hij mee aan een verkiezing om kanselier te worden, die hij wint.
