Le terme PON, pour Passive Optical Network (réseau optique passif), désigne un principe de transport de niveau 1 en fibre optique utilisé dans les réseaux de desserte optique (FTTx), caractérisé par une architecture fibre point-multipoint passive (plusieurs usagers partagent une même fibre et il n'y a pas d'équipement actif entre le central et les abonnés). Polska Organizacja Narodowa (PON) – polska organizacja polityczna utworzona 5 września 1914 w Kielcach przez Józefa Piłsudskiego. Powstała w wyniku rozłamu w Naczelnym Komitecie Narodowym.Wobec rozwiązania Legionu Wschodniego, Piłsudski nie podporządkował się poleceniom NKN-u niewerbowania do Legionu Zachodniego mieszkańców Królestwa Polskiego. Uzyskał w tym poparcie niemieckich władz wojskowych. Jednak wobec niepowodzeń wojsk niemieckich przy próbie zdobycia Warszawy, Piłsudski zmuszony był podporządkować PON NKN-owi w listopadzie 1914.
