Le produit intérieur brut (PIB) est un indicateur économique très utilisé, qui mesure le niveau de production d'un pays. Das Byte [] ist ein Begriff aus der Digitaltechnik und Informatik, der für eine Zusammenstellung von mehreren (heute fast immer 8) Bit steht. Um ausdrücklich auf eine Anzahl von 8 Bit hinzuweisen, wird auch die Bezeichnung Oktett verwendet.

Il pebibyte è un unità di misura dell' informazione  o della quantità di dati, il termine deriva dalla contrazione di peta binary byte ed ha per simbolo PiB. Questo standard è stato definito dalla Commissione Elettrotecnica Internazionale (IEC) nel dicembre 1998 per stabilire i nuovi multipli del byte. Il pebibyte è collegato strettamente al petabyte, il quale è usato (creando spesso ambiguità) o come sinonimo per pebibyte oppure per riferirsi a 1015 byte (1.000.000.000.000.000 byte) creando in questo ultimo caso un errore del 12,6%.
