PDSI

The Palmer Drought Index, sometimes called the Palmer Drought Severity Index and often abbreviated PDSI, is an often-used measurement of dryness based on recent precipitation and temperature. It was developed by meteorologist Wayne Palmer, who first published his method in the 1965 paper Meteorological Drought for the Office of Climatology of the U.S. Weather Bureau.

L’indice de sècheresse de Palmer, parfois appelé indice de sévérité de la sécheresse de Palmer et souvent abrégée en PDSI (de l'anglais Palmer Drought Severity Index), est une mesure de la sècheresse fondée sur les précipitations et les températures récentes. Il fut développé par le météorologue Wayne Palmer, qui publia sa méthode en 1965 dans un rapport sur la sècheresse pour l’Office of Climatology du National Weather Service des États-Unis.
