PAR AVION

For the mail reference "Par Avion," see airmail etiquette. "Par Avion" is the twelfth episode of the third season of Lost. It was aired on March 14, 2007, making it the 59th episode of the series. The episode was written by Christina M. Kim and Jordan Rosenberg and directed by Paul Edwards. The character of Claire Littleton was featured in the episode's flashbacks. There were also a series of flashbacks that were filmed but never made it into the show.

An airmail etiquette, often shortened to just etiquette, is an adhesive label used to indicate that a letter is to be sent by airmail.Since the etiquettes are basically just notes to postal clerks, and have no monetary value, their printing and distribution need not be as carefully controlled as for postage stamps, and most are privately produced. The usual design is a plain blue oblong, with the phrases such as "AIR MAIL" and/or "PAR AVION" (French, traditionally the international mail language) in white letters. However, at various times, airlines and hotels have produced more elaborate designs, some quite attractive.

Een luchtpostetiket of luchtpoststrookje is een postaal etiket dat op een poststuk wordt geplakt om aan te geven dat verzending per luchtpost de bedoeling is van de verzender. Dat blijkt uit de aanduiding "Par avion", "By air mail", "Per luchtpost" en dergelijke.In Nederland werd het luchtpostetiket in 1926 ingevoerd (zwarte tekst op een geel etiket) en in 1927 verplicht gesteld. In 1929 werd bij de Wereldpostunie beslist dat luchtpostetiketten blauw moesten zijn. Bovendien moest altijd de tekst "Par avion" worden gebruikt of worden toegevoegd.
