Reduction potential
Standard Reduction potential (also known as redox potential, oxidation / reduction potential or ORP) is the tendency of a
chemical species to acquire
electrons and thereby be
reduced. Each species has its own intrinsic reduction potential; the more positive the potential, the greater the species' affinity for electrons and tendency to be reduced.

Oxidation-Reduction Potential
The electric potential required to transfer electrons from one compound or element (the oxidant) to another compound (the reductant); used as a qualitative measure of the state of oxidation in water treatment systems.
