Oslo

(called Christiania from 1624 to 1878, and Kristiania from 1878 to 1924) is the capital and largest city of Norway. It is also a municipality, and a county of its own.The city of Oslo was established as a municipality on 3 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). It was separated from the county of Akershus as a county of its own in 1842. The rural municipality of Aker was merged with Oslo on 1 January 1948 (and then transferred from Akershus county to Oslo county).

Oslo (prononcé ↓ʊʂˈlʊ dans le dialecte osloïte ; anciennement Christiania, selon la graphie danoise, ou Kristiania de 1624 à 1925) est la capitale de la Norvège. Avec une population de plus de 540 000 habitants d'Oslo (il n'y a pas de gentilé pour les habitants et originaires d'Oslo) au  2007, la ville regroupe 11,5 % de la population norvégienne et constitue un fylkeskommune (district communal), regroupant quinze bydeler (subdivisions), s'étendant largement autour du fjord d'Oslo et vers le nord-est.

(dt. , norw. , vormals Christiania (1624 bis 1877), Kristiania (1877 bis 1924), mitunter auch Xania) ist die Hauptstadt Norwegens und hat durch zahlreiche Eingemeindungen und stetiges Bevölkerungswachstum mittlerweile rund 550.000 Einwohner, wobei der Anteil der Ausländer an der Gesamtbevölkerung bei 24 % liegt (Stand Juli 2007). Im Großraum Oslo wohnen etwa 1,4 Millionen Einwohner. Die Stadt ist mehr als 1.000 Jahre alt. Sie bildet heute eine eigenständige Provinz (fylke) und ist zugleich Verwaltungssitz der benachbarten Provinz Akershus. Laut einer Studie des Economist löste Oslo im Januar 2006 die „Stadt“ Tokio als teuerste Stadt der Welt ab, die bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt 14 Jahre diese Position eingenommen hatte.

Gmina Oslo graniczy z gminami Bærum, Ringerike, Lunner, Nittedal, Skedsmo, Lørenskog, Enebakk, Ski, Oppegård i Nesodden. W samym Oslo mieszka ponad 11% mieszkańców Norwegii.

Con una popolazione di circa 548.617 abitanti, accoglie il 12 irca della popolazione norvegese. Tuttavia, considerando l'intera area metropolitana, comunemente chiamata "regione della grande Oslo" (Stor-Osloregionen), che si estende ben oltre i limiti del comune, si ha una popolazione complessiva di 1,121,020 abitanti (2005). I confini geografici della contea di Oslo e del comune sono identici, la superficie misura 22 km².
