is a city in the Kansai region of Japan's main island of Honshu, a designated city under the Local Autonomy Law, the capital city of Osaka Prefecture and also the biggest part of Keihanshin area, which is represented by three major cities of Japan, Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe. Located at the mouth of the Yodo River on Osaka Bay, Osaka is the third largest city by population after Tokyo (special wards) and Yokohama.

Ōsaka (en japonais 大阪市, Ōsaka-shi, prononcé //, en français Osaka) est la troisième ville du Japon et le chef-lieu de la préfecture du même nom. Située sur l'île de Honshū (本州 ou 本土 Honshū), l'île principale sur laquelle se trouve également Tōkyō, au bord de l'océan Pacifique, plus précisément dans la baie d'Ōsaka. Elle est traversée par un grand nombre de rivières, dont la plus grande est Yodo.

Jest stolicą prefektury o tej samej nazwie. Jest częścią obszaru metropolitalnego Keihanshin zamieszkiwanego przez ok. 18 mln osób.
