ORiNOCO is the brand name that was used for a family of wireless networking solutions by Proxim (previously Lucent). The Orinoco is one of the longest rivers in South America at 2,410 km, (1,497.5 miles). Its drainage basin, sometimes called the Orinoquia (especially in Colombia) covers 880,000 km², 76.3% in Venezuela with the rest in Colombia. The Orinoco and its tributaries are the major transportation system for eastern and interior Venezuela and the llanos of Colombia. However, since river navigation is declining in every country, many of the old waterways along the Orinoco watershed are now an obstacle to land communications more than a useful commercial route.

L'Orénoque (en espagnol río Orinoco) est un fleuve du Venezuela, en Amérique du Sud. Il prend sa source dans la Sierra Parima (Plateau des Guyanes) et se jette dans l'océan Atlantique par un delta de 25 000 km². Il traverse les villes de Ciudad Bolívar et Ciudad Guayana.

Der Orinoco ist mit einer Länge von 2.140 Kilometern einer der längsten Flüsse Südamerikas. Der gesamte Flusslauf liegt auf dem Staatsgebiet Venezuelas.Die Quelle des Orinoco befindet sich in der Gegend von Parima nahe der Grenze Venezuelas zu Brasilien. Von hier fließt er in einem weiten, westwärts gerichteten Bogen nordwärts zum Atlantik, in den er schließlich mündet. Er fließt dabei zunächst an der Grenze zwischen Venezuela und Kolumbien entlang und dann auf seinem Unterlauf quer durch Venezuela. Sein Delta bildet eine 41.001 km² große Sumpflandschaft, die durch einen enormen Tierreichtum und große Erdölvorkommen bekannt ist. Durch den Brazo Casiquiare ist der Orinoco mit dem Rio Negro verbunden.

L' Orinoco è un fiume dell'America meridionale. La sua lunghezza è di 2.140 km e il suo bacino idrografico, chiamato anche Orinoquia, copre circa 880 000 km² (il 23.7% in Colombia e il resto in Venezuela). La sua portata media è elevata, di circa 30 000 m³/sec e lo rende il secondo fiume più abbondante dell' America meridionale, dopo il Rio delle Amazzoni.
