Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons
The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is an intergovernmental organization, located in The Hague, Netherlands. The organization promotes and verifies the adherence to the Chemical Weapons Convention which prohibits of the use of chemical weapons and requires their destruction. The verification consists both of evaluation of declarations by members states and on-site inspections.

Organisation für das Verbot chemischer Waffen
Die Organisation für das Verbot chemischer Waffen (engl.: Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, OPCW) ist eine autonome internationale Organisation, die durch besondere vertragliche Beziehungen den Vereinten Nationen angeschlossen ist. Sie überwacht die Einhaltung und Umsetzung der Chemiewaffenkonvention. Sie legt die Rahmenbedingungen fest und verfügt über ein Kontrollregime mit weit reichenden Vollmachten. Die OPCW nahm am 29. April 1997 ihre Arbeit auf. Sie hat ihren Sitz in Den Haag/Niederlande.

L'Organisation pour l'interdiction des armes chimiques - OIAC) (ou en anglais Organisation for the prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW) - est une institution internationale basée à La Haye aux Pays-Bas et qui veille à ce que la Convention internationale sur les armes chimiques soit bien appliquée par les membres l'ayant signée.

Organisationen för förbud mot kemiska vapen
Organisationen för förbud mot kemiska vapen eller OPCW (av organisationens engelska namn Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) är en internationell organisation som ser till att fördraget om kemiska vapen efterlevs. Man inspekterar laboratorier, fabriker och arsenaler och leder översynen av hur vapnen förstörs. Organisationens uppmärksammades mycket under det andra gulfkriget när dess verkställande direktör, den brasilianska diplomaten Jose Bustani, tvingades avgå på grund av påtryckningar från USA.

Organização para a Proibição de Armas Químicas
A Organização para a Proibição de Armas Químicas ou OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) é uma organização criada em 1997 pelos países que já participavam da Convenção de Armas Químicas.

Tem a finalidade de fazer que esta Convenção seja colocada em prática.

Sob os termos da Convenção, a OPCW coordena várias atividades em todo o mundo, incluindo:

  • trabalhar para convencer países que ainda não aderiram à Convenção;
  • pesquisar e confirmar a destruição da existência de armas químicas;
  • monitorar certas atividades na indústria química para reduzir o risco de que produtos químicos sejam usados inapropriadamente.
  • prover assistência e proteção aos países-membros se estes forem atacados ou ameaçados com um ataque de armas nucleares, e
  • promover a cooperação internacional para o uso pacífico de produtos químicos.
A OPCW é uma organização internacional independente, e faz um trabalho de cooperação com as Nações Unidas.
