L’excellentissime ordre de l’Empire britannique (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) est un ordre de chevalerie du système honorifique britannique. Il est établi en 1917 par le roi Georges V. La devise de l'ordre est For God and the Empire (Pour Dieu et l'Empire).

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire ist ein britischer Ritterorden, der 1917 von König Georg V. gestiftet wurde. Das Motto des Ordens lautet For God and the Empire. Er ist der jüngste der britischen Ritterorden und der am häufigsten verliehene.Es gibt fünf Abstufungen:Knight Grand Cross/Dame Grand Cross (GBE)Knight Commander/Dame Commander (KBE/DBE)Commander (CBE)Officer (OBE)Member (MBE)Die beiden unteren Stufen, Member („Mitglied“) und Officer („Offizier“), werden wie abgebildet am Band auf der Brust getragen (Mitglieder in Silber, Offiziere in Gold), das Kreuz des Commander („Kommandeur“, „Komtur“) wird als Halsorden getragen. Frauen tragen diese Stufen stets an der Damenschleife. Für die Insignien der Knight Commander und Dame Commander („Großkomtur“) gilt sinngemäß dasselbe wie für das Kommandeurskreuz, allerdings gehört dazu auch noch ein Bruststern. Das Grand Cross („Großkreuz“) wird als Hüftdekoration an einer Schärpe (Schulterband) getragen, wozu ebenfalls ein Bruststern gehört.

Motto orderu brzmi: For God and the Empire (ang. Za Boga i Imperium).Dzieli się na pięć klas:Rycerz lub Dama Wielkiego Krzyża orderu (Knight / Dame Grand Cross, GBE)Rycerz lub Dama Komandor orderu (Knight / Dame Commander, KBE lub DBE) Komandor orderu (Commander, CBE) Oficer orderu (Officer, OBE) Kawaler orderu (Member, MBE) Osoby odznaczone mają prawo do używania skrótu odpowiedniej klasy orderu po nazwisku (GBE, KBE / DBE, CBE, OBE lub MBE). Osoby odznaczone orderem dwóch najwyższych klas mają prawo do tytułu "Sir" lub "Dame" (Dama) przed imieniem i nazwiskiem (przedrostków tych używa się zawsze z imieniem i nazwiskiem, lub samym imieniem, nigdy samym nazwiskiem odznaczonej osoby) - pod warunkiem, że są obywatelami kraju, w którym królowa (lub król) Anglii jest uznawana (lub uznawany) za głowę państwa.
