Oldies

Oldies is a generic term commonly used to describe a radio format that usually concentrates on Top 40 music from the '50s, '60s and '70s.Oldies are typically from R&B, pop and rock music genres. Country, jazz, classical music, and other formats are generally not considered oldies music, although some of those genres have their own oldies format (for instance, classic country). Occasionally the term is used to describe the rare station that includes '40s music as well, although music from before 1955 (coinciding with the "birth of rock'n'roll"), is typically the domain of the adult standards format. However, the term constitutes ambiguity for people who like old dancing music.

Der Ausdruck Evergreen (aus dem Englischen: immergrün) bezeichnet einen trotz seines Alters in den Medien immer wieder gespielten und vom Publikum gerne gehörten Popsong, ein Lied oder schlagerähnliches Chanson der leichten Muse. Auch die Standardrepertoirestücke des Jazz werden entsprechend tituliert. Im Bereich der Rockmusik und des Pop ist auch von einem Oldie die Rede. Der Begriff wird auch im Bereich der Filmmusik verwendet.

Oldies è una raccolta di singoli dei Beatles registrati e venduti tra il 1963 e il 1966.L'album è stato pubblicato in Gran Bretagna e in Australia ma non negli Stati Uniti.L'album in questione è il risultato di un inziativa della Parlophone che,non avendo materiale nuovo da pubblicare alla fine del 1966,decise di rilasciare in un unica raccolta i singoli fino ad allora di maggior successo dei fab four.La traccia "Bad Boy" non era mai uscita fino ad allora in Gran Breatagna,ma negli Stati Uniti apparve nell'album Beatles VI.
