Ohio

Ohio (IPA: //) is a Midwestern state of the United States. Part of the Great Lakes region, Ohio has long been a cultural and geographical crossroads. At the time of European contact and in the years that followed, Native Americans in today's Ohio included the Iroquois, Miamis, and Wyandots. Beginning in the 1700s, the area was settled by people from New England, the Middle States, Appalachia, and the upper south.

L'Ohio è uno stato nell'angolo nordorientale degli Stati Uniti. Fu il primo e più orientale tra gli stati del "Midwest" ammessi nell'Unione in base alla Northwest Ordinance. Ohio è una parola irochese che significa "bel fiume"/"bella terra." Il nome si riferisce al fiume Ohio, che limita il confine meridionale dello stato. La sua capitale è Columbus, sede di aziende commerciali ed industriali.
