Ogham ( or ; , , Modern Irish  or ) is an Early Medieval alphabet used primarily to write the Old Irish language, and the Brythonic language. Ogham is sometimes called the "Celtic Tree Alphabet", based on a high medieval Bríatharogam tradition ascribing names of trees to the individual letters. There are roughly 400 surviving ogham inscriptions on stone monuments throughout Ireland and western Britain; the bulk of them are in the south of Ireland, in Counties Kerry, Cork and Waterford. The largest number outside of Ireland is in Pembrokeshire in Wales. The remainder are mostly in south-eastern Ireland, Scotland, Orkney Isles, the Isle of Man, and England around the Devon/Cornwall border. The vast majority of the inscriptions consist of personal names.

Die Ogam- (altirisch) oder Ogham-Schrift (neuirisch) (irisch, sprich Ogəm oder O-em) wurde in Irland und einigen westlichen Teilen Britanniens bzw. Schottlands (Scottish Gaelic Oghum) vom 4. bis 6. Jahrhundert dazu benutzt, an den Kanten von Menhiren (engl. standing stones) kurze Texte, in den meisten Fällen Personennamen, anzubringen. Die Schrift wurde nach Ogma oder Ogmios benannt, dem altirischen Gott der Redekunst.

L’écriture oghamique ou ogam est la plus ancienne connue chez les Celtes qui tenaient le dieu Ogme pour son inventeur. C’est une écriture alphabétique composée de vingt lettres qui était en usage dans les îles Britanniques, elle aurait été créée vers le IIIe siècle après J.C. à partir de l’alphabet latin. Il est composé de quatre groupes de cinq encoches chacun, à gauche, à droite, en travers et au milieu d’une ligne verticale. Plus tard, on y a ajouté un cinquième groupe de cinq diphtongues ou lettres supplémentaires pour représenter les sons étrangers. La plupart des textes retranscrits en alphabet oghamique le sont en vieux gaélique ; sauf quelques incriptions supposées être en langue picte. On a retrouvé, aussi, dans les annales d’Inisfalen, une inscription oghamique écrite en latin.

Ogamy podzielone były na cztery aicme, a każdą z nich dodatkowo tworzyło pięć znaków. Inskrypcje nagrobne zapisane pismem ogamicznym z IV-VIII w. odnaleziono na terenie Irlandii, Walii, Szkocji i wyspie Man.
