Oceanic dolphin
Oceanic dolphins are the members of the Delphinidae family of cetaceans. These marine mammals are related to whales and porpoises. They are found worldwide, mostly in the shallower seas of the continental shelves. As the name implies, these dolphins tend to be found in the open seas, unlike the river dolphins, although a few species such as the Irrawaddy dolphin are coastal or riverine.

Dolfijnen
Dolfijnen (Delphinidae) zijn een familie van in zee levende walvisachtigen. Ze worden ook wel dolfijnachtigen, zeedolfijnen of echte dolfijnen (in tegenstelling tot de grondeldolfijnen) genoemd. Ze vormen een familie uit de onderorde der tandwalvissen (Odontoceti) en komen voor in alle wereldzeeën.
Er bestaan 34 soorten dolfijnen verdeeld over 16 geslachten. De kleinste dolfijn is Heavisides dolfijn, met een lengte van 1,2 meter en een gewicht van 40 kilogram. De grootste dolfijn is de zwart-witte orka, die 7 meter lang kan worden, en wel 4,5 ton kan wegen.
Dolfijnen leven vooral in de ondiepere gebieden van de zee. Ze eten vooral vis en inktvis. Tussen de diverse soorten zitten behoorlijke verschillen: orka's pakken bijvoorbeeld veel grotere prooien (onder andere zeeroofdieren) dan de gewone dolfijn, die hoofdzakelijk van vis leeft.

دلفين محيطي
الدلافين المحيطية "Delphinidae" (بالإنجليزية: Oceanic Dolphin) هي فصيلة من الحيتانيات ذوات الأسنان، تتكون أساساً من الدلافين التي تعيش في المحيطات والبحار المفتوحة، على عكس الدلافين النهرية التي ينحصر تواجدها في الأنهار، رغم أن بعض أنواع الدلافين المحيطية تعيش بالقرب من السوحل والمناطق النهرية. تسمى ستة أنواع من هذه الفصيلة بالحيتان عوضاً عن الدلافين، كالحوت القاتل، والحوت البطيخي الرأس.
