Oceania is a region centered on the islands of the tropical Pacific Ocean. Opinions of what constitutes Oceania range from the coral atolls and volcanic islands of the South Pacific (ethnologically divided into the subregions of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia) to the entire insular region between Asia and the Americas, including Australasia and the Malay Archipelago. The term is sometimes used more specifically to denote a continent comprising Australia and proximate islands, or biogeographically as a synonym for either the Australasian ecozone (Wallacea and Australasia) or the Pacific ecozone (Melanesia, Polynesia, and Micronesia apart either from New Zealand or from mainland New Guinea).

Ozeanien ist die Bezeichnung für eine kulturelle und wirtschaftliche Zusammenfassung der Inselwelt des Pazifiks zu einem Kontinent. Ozeanien ist nach dieser Definition der kleinste Kontinent an Landmasse und der zweitkleinste im Bezug auf die Bevölkerung. Die über 7.500 Inseln umfassen zusammen eine Landfläche von fast 1,3 Millionen Quadratkilometern und erstrecken sich über ein Meeresgebiet von etwa 70 Millionen Quadratkilometern. Etwa 2.100 der Inseln sind bewohnt. 14,9 Millionen Menschen leben dort.

L'Océania est un pays fictif, présent dans le roman 1984 de George Orwell. Elle comprend l'Amérique du Nord, l'Amérique du Sud, l'Océanie, l'Afrique du Sud et le Royaume-Uni. Dans le roman, elle fait partie des trois régimes totalitaires qui se partagent le monde, les deux autres étant l'Eurasia et l'Estasia. L'Océania est dirigé par le parti de l'Angsoc, ou Socialisme Anglais.
