Dans la littérature grecque, une ode, du grec ωδή (chant), est un poème lyrique en strophes, accompagné de musique. Par extension, une ode est un poème célébrant un personnage ou événement : un vainqueur des jeux Olympiques par exemple. C’est un genre élevé, l’équivalent poétique de l’épopée.

Oden sind Gedichte, die sich durch Feierlichkeit und Erhabenheit auszeichnen.In einer Ode findet man für gewöhnlich keinen Endreim; es handelt sich um eine in Strophen gegliederte, lange Form des Gedichtes. Eine Ode kann einem festen Metrum folgen, dieses ist aber nicht zwingend notwendig. Zur Würde und Größe des in dieser Ode behandelten Themas passend, wird meist ein hoher, pathetischer Sprachstil verwendet.

Oda – utwór liryczny, który charakteryzuje wzniosłość tematu i stylu, sławiący ideę, wydarzenie lub czas. Zwykle cechuje ją także zbiorowy podmiot wypowiedzi. Należała do najpopularniejszych form poezji klasycznej. W Starożytnej Grecji i w starożytnym Rzymie oda była w przeciwieństwie do hymnu utworem o tematyce świeckiej, wychwalającym np. miasta, ludzi lub pewne pojęcia abstrakcyjne. Charakteryzuje się zawartością elementów pochwalnych, patosem, śpiewnością i melodyjnością. Zrytmizowanie osiągnięte jest za pomocą regularności wersyfikacyjnej i stałego miejsca średniówki. Data napisania pierwszej ody szacowana jest na przełom VI i VII w. p.n.e. (przez Safonę).
