"One country, two systems" is an idea originally proposed by Deng Xiaoping during the early 1980s, then Paramount Leader of the People's Republic of China (PRC), for the reunification of China. He suggested that there will be only one China, but areas such as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan can have their own capitalist economic and political systems, while the rest of China uses the "socialist" system. Under his suggestion, Taiwan can even keep its own military, though it cannot have any direct diplomatic relationship with other countries.

« Un pays, deux systèmes » est une formule qui a été énoncée par Deng Xiaoping à propos du retour de Hong Kong à la Chine. Elle signifie que Hong Kong peut faire partie de la Chine sans qu'on y applique les mêmes règles politiques et économiques. Après le retour de Hong Kong à la Chine, ce slogan a aussi été utilisé pour d'autres territoires, notamment Macao et les zones économiques spéciales, voire Taiwan.

Ein Land, zwei Systeme war die offizielle Politikstrategie Deng Xiaopings gegenüber Hongkong, Macau und Taiwan. Ein Land, zwei Systeme bedeutet nach offizieller Lesart, dass innerhalb der Volksrepublik China der Sozialismus aufrechterhalten werde, während Hongkong, Macao und die Republik China (Taiwan) ihr kapitalistisches System nach einer friedlichen Wiedervereinigung beibehalten dürften. Für Hongkong und Macao heißt dies konkret, dass seit 1997 bzw. 1999, den Jahren der Rückgabe an die Volksrepublik China, das geltende System weitere 50 Jahre beibehalten werden darf. Von der Republik China wird verlangt, sich unter dieser Regel mit der Volksrepublik wiederzuvereinigen.

"Ett land, två system" är en idé som ursprungligen föreslogs av Deng Xiaoping under början av 1980-talet. Han menade att det bara skulle finnas ett Kina, men områden som Hongkong, Macau och Taiwan skulle kunna ha sina egna kapitaliska ekonomiska och politiska system, medan resten av Kina använde sig av det socialistiska.
