O Brother, Where Art Thou?
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a 2000 comedy film directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and starring George Clooney, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, John Goodman, Holly Hunter, and Charles Durning. Set in 1937 rural Mississippi during the Great Depression, the film's story is a modern satire loosely based on Homer’s Odyssey. The title of the film is a reference to the 1941 film Sullivan's Travels, in which the protagonist (a director) wants to direct a film about the Great Depression called O Brother, Where Art Thou?

O Brother, Where Art Thou?
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is een Amerikaanse film uit 2000 van de broers Joel en Ethan Coen.
De door Homerus vastgelegde omzwervingen van Odysseus worden nog eens overgedaan in Mississippi, USA anno 1920. Drie ontsnapte gevangenen gaan op zoek naar een vermeende schat en vinden alle obstakels en verleidingen op hun weg die ook in de Odyssee een rol spelen. Er wordt vrij geciteerd uit deze klassieker door Ulysses Everett McGill (George Clooney), Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) en Pete (John Turturro) op hun weg te laten kennismaken met: een blinde voorspeller, de zuivering van de zonde (doop door Baptisten), de bedreiging van kwaad in vele gedaanten (bankrover George 'Babyface' Nelson, 'cycloop' Big Dan Teague, boevenjagende sheriff als 'de duivel', Ku Klux Clan, etc), de verleiding door de Sirenen en uiteindelijk, na een allesvernietigend natuurverschijnsel (stuwmeer wordt onder water gezet) is daar de verlossing in de goede afloop.
