Notte o Nyx è un personaggio della mitologia greca, figlia di Caos e di Caligine .Secondo Esiodo, Nyx era la personificazione della notte terrestre, in contrapposizione al fratello Erebo, che rappresentava la notte del mondo infernale. Da Notte nacquero Etere ed Emera, la luce e il giorno, oltre che Eris (la discordia), Ipno (il sonno) e il suo gemello Tanato (la morte), Nemesi (la vendetta), Momo (il sarcasmo).

| Nyx (Grieks Νύξ) of Nox (Latijn) was de Griekse en Romeinse oer-godin van de nacht. Zelfs Zeus had veel respect voor haar en deed zijn best haar niet ontevreden te stellen. De godin werd in het oude Griekenland zelden echt vereerd; het kwam vaker voor dat zij op de achtergrond bij een andere cultus optrad. In de tempel van Artemis op Ephesus staat een beeld van de Nacht, en ook was ze in de Spartaanse religie de moeder van Slaap en Dood.
