Nyborg

Nyborg is a city in central Denmark, located in Nyborg municipality on the island of Funen. The population is 15,862 (2004).Nyborg was first mentioned in 1193 in the history of Denmark as Nyborg castle, which still exists today, but the town itself was not mentioned before the year 1202. In the 17th century, Nyborg was one of three major, fortified towns in Denmark. The two others are Fredericia and Copenhagen. Each was placed near an important body of water - in Nyborg's case, the Great Belt (Storebælt). In 1659 the city was captured by the Swedes and relieved by an expeditionary fleet sent by the Dutch, then Denmark's allies, commanded by admiral De Ruyter.

Nyborg (deutsch veraltet Nieburg) ist eine dänische Hafenstadt an der Ostküste Fünens. Sie hat 18.972 Einwohner (1. Januar 2005). Der Fährhafen von Nyborg ist seit der Eröffnung der Storebælt-Brücke (1998) außer Betrieb.Die Stadt am Großen Belt liegt an der dänischen Hauptverkehrsachse, die per Straße und Eisenbahn Kopenhagen mit Fünen und Jütland verbindet. Der Bahnhof wurde 1998 nach Norden verlegt, als die Brücke eröffnet und der Fährbetrieb eingestellt wurde. Eine Nebenbahn über Ringe nach Fåborg wurde 1965 eingestellt.

Stolica liczącej ok. 19.000 mieszkańców gminy Nyborg (samo miasto liczy 16 043 mieszkańców, 2006).Pierwsza wzmianka o Nyborgu pochodzi z 1193 roku, kiedy to powstał, istniejący do dziś, zamek Nyborg. Prawa miejskie od 1202. W XVII wieku Nyborg był jednym z trzech, obok Fredericii i Kopenhagi, największych duńskich fortów. W 1659 przetrwał, dzięki pomocy kontyngentu holenderskiego pod wodzą admirała Michiela de Ruytera, oblężenie szwedzkie.

Nyborg è un comune danese di 18.765 abitanti situato nella regione di Syddanmark.In seguito alla riforma amministrativa del 1 gennaio 2007 sono stati accorpati al comune di Nyborg i precedenti comuni di Ørbæk e Ullerslev.
