Nucellus

Ovule literally means "small egg." In seed plants, the ovule is the structure that gives rise to and contains the female reproductive cells. It consists of three parts: The integuments forming its outer layer, the nucellus (or megasporangium), and the megaspore-derived female gametophyte (or megagametophyte) in its center. The megagametophyte (also called embryo sac in flowering plants) produces the egg cell for fertilization. After fertilization, the ovule develops into a seed.

Als Nucellus bezeichnet man in der Botanik das Gewebe in der Samenanlage der Samenpflanzen, das die Megasporen ausbildet (Megasporangium). Es wird von ein oder zwei sterilen Hüllen, den Integumenten umschlossen und bildet mit ihnen zusammen die Samenanlage.Im Generationswechsel von Pflanzen unterscheidet man den Sporophyten und den Gametophyten. Der Sporophyt bildet ein Gewebe aus, das die ungeschlechtlichen Sporen bildet, Sporangium genannt. Aus diesen Sporen keimt der Gametophyt, der die Geschlechtszellen (Gameten) ausbildet, die dann zu einer Zygote fusionieren (Befruchtung) und dann einen neuen Sporophyten ausbilden. Etwa bei Moosen ist dies noch so realisiert.

Zalążek - żeński organ rozmnażania charakterystyczny dla roślin nasiennych z którego powstaje nasienie po zapłodnieniu. Powstaje ze szczególnej tkanki twórczej, która tworzy łożysko (placenta). Jest on zazwyczaj kształtu owalnego. Do wspomnianego łożyska przymocowuje się za pomocą sznureczka (funiculus), przez który wnikają do niego wiązki przewodzące. W zalążku rozróżnia się: osłonkę (integumenta), ośrodek (nucellus) i woreczek zalążkowy.
