Nottingham ( ) is a city and unitary authority in the East Midlands of England in the ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire and is one of eight members of the English Core Cities Group.

East Midlands Airport is an airport in the East Midlands of England, located at Castle Donington in North West Leicestershire. It lies between the cities of Derby, southeast, Leicester and Nottingham, all within a radius of the airfield. It serves primarily as an airport for the local inhabitants of the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire and South Yorkshire. Passenger numbers peaked in 2008 at 5.6 million, but declined by 25% to 4.2 million in 2011 making it the 12th busiest airport in the UK by passenger traffic. It was the second busiest UK airport for freight traffic in 2011.

Das Logistikunternehmen DHL eröffnete im Jahr 2000 ein Regionaldrehkreuz (Regional Hub) am Ort. Seit dem 8. Dezember 2006 trägt der Flughafen den offiziellen Namen East Midlands Airport: Nottingham, Leicester, Derby.
