Notos

In Greek mythology, the Anemoi (in Greek, Άνεμοι — "winds") were wind gods who were each ascribed a cardinal direction, from which their respective winds came, and were each associated with various seasons and weather conditions. They were sometimes represented as mere gusts of wind, at other times were personified as winged men, and at still other times were depicted as horses kept in the stables of the storm god Aeolus, who provided Odysseus with the Anemoi in the Odyssey. Astraeus, the astrological deity sometimes associated with Aeolus, and Eos, the goddess of the dawn, were the parents of the Anemoi, according to the Greek poet Hesiod.

Dans la mythologie grecque, Notos ou Notus (en grec ancien  / Nótos, en latin Notus) est la personnification du vent du Sud, l'un des quatre vents directionnels. Réputé humide et violent, il est associé à la fin de l'été et est le vent de la pluie et des tempêtes. Son équivalent romain est Auster.

Notos (auch Notus) war in der griechischen Mythologie der Südwind. Notos war der Bruder von Euros, Boreas und Zephyros. Im Allgemeinen wurde Notos als sanft und warm beschrieben. Dennoch konnte Notos schwere Herbststürme bringen, bei denen die Bauern um ihre Ernte fürchteten. Am Turm der Winde in Athen ist Notus als unbärtiger Jüngling, eine Urne in beiden Händen haltend, dargestellt.Sein Pendant in der Römischen Mythologie ist der Auster, ein Sciroccowind, der dichte Wolkendecken, Nebel oder feuchte Hitze bringen konnte.

Notos – bóstwo greckie, jeden z wiatrów - wiatr południowy, przynoszący mgłę i deszcz. Był przedstawiany jako uskrzydlona postać, wylewająca deszcz z naczynia, podobnie jak jego matka, Eos, bogini jutrzenki, która o świcie rozpryskiwała z naczynia rosę przed rydwanem Słońca.

Notus was in de Griekse mythologie de zoon van Eos en Aeolus (de dageraad en de wind), en hij personifieerde de zuidenwind. Zijn broers waren Boreas de noordenwind, Zephyros de westenwind en Eurus de oostenwind. Zijn Romeinse evenknie was Auster.De Grieken vereerden Notus als een vriendelijke godheid, maar hij was ook verantwoordelijk voor herfststormen.
