Norwegian Americans or (
Norwegian Norsk-Amerikaner) are an
ethnic group in the
United States. They are the descendants of
Norwegian immigrants who came to the United States primarily in the latter half of the 19th century and the first few decades of the 20th century. There are more than 5 million Norwegian-Americans according to the most recent U.S. census, and most live in the
Upper Midwest.
