Northwest

Northwest or north west is the ordinal direction halfway between north and west on a compass. It is the opposite of southeast. Der Begriff Nordwest oder Nordwesten (NW) bezeichnet eine Nebenhimmelsrichtung, die die Winkelhalbierende zwischen den Richtungen West und Nord darstellt. Das Adjektiv dazu ist nordwestlich.Im Sinn eines Azimuts oder eines Kurses hat Nordwesten genau 315 Grad. Im allgemeinen Sprachgebrauch werden zu "Nordwest" alle Richtungen zwischen etwa 295° und 335° gezählt. Diesen Winkelbereich überstreicht die Sonne im nördlichen Sommer von etwa 19:00 bis 22:00 Uhr Ortszeit. Genau im Nordwesten steht die Sonne um 21:00 Uhr Ortszeit

Northwest Airlines („Northwest“) ist eine international operierende US-amerikanische Fluggesellschaft mit Sitz in Eagan. Sie ist die älteste verbliebene Fluggesellschaft der USA (sog. Legacy-Carrier) und hinter American, Delta, Southwest und United Airlines die fünftgrößte Fluggesellschaft der USA. Im Jahre 1980 nahm die Fluglinie - damals noch als "Northwest Orient Airlines" geführt - ihren Linienverkehr nach Deutschland (Hamburg) auf.
