Northern Basque Country

The Northern Basque Country, French Basque Country or Continental Basque Country (, ) constitutes the northern part of the Basque Country and the western part of the French department of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. It is delimited in the north by the department of Landes, in the west by the Bay of Biscay, in the south by the southern Basque Country and in the east by Béarn, which is the eastern part of the department. It is a popular tourist destination and is somewhat distinct from neighbouring parts of either France or the southern Basque Country.

Le Pays basque français (ou Pays basque nord), Iparralde en basque (ce qui signifie côté nord) constitue la partie occidentale des Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Il est délimité au nord par le département des Landes, à l'ouest par le golfe de Gascogne, au sud par les Pyrénées qui le séparent du Pays basque espagnol et à l'est par le Béarn qui est la partie orientale du département.

Frans-Baskenland (Frans: Pays Basque Français; Baskisch: Iparralde, letterlijk: Noordzijde) is het deel van Baskenland dat in Frankrijk ligt. Het maakt deel uit van het departement Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Een andere benaming is Noord-Baskenland.

O País Basco francês (em basco Iparralde) é a parte mais ocidental do departamento francês dos Pirineus-Atlânticos, constituindo uma região histórica de Euskal Herria (o grande País Basco).As três províncias francesas que integram o País Basco são:Baixa-Navarra (em basco Nafarroa Beherea, em francês Basse-Navarre)Lapurdi (Labourd em francês)Zuberoa (Soule em francês)O nome basco Iparralde significa parte norte, enquanto que a maior parte do País Basco está localizada em território espanhol, ao sul. Por este motivo, a parte sul chama-se Hegoalde. Existe um forte movimento político e social que reivindica a criação de um departamento exlusivo para o País Basco, separando do departamento dos Pirineus-Atlânticos.
