North and South (TV miniseries)
North and South is the title of three American television miniseries broadcast on the ABC network in 1985, 1986, and 1994. Set before, during, and immediately after the American Civil War, they are based on the 1980s trilogy of novels North and South by John Jakes. The 1985 first installment, North and South, remains the seventh-highest rated miniseries in TV history. North and South: Book II (1986) was met with similar success, while 1994's Heaven and Hell: North and South Book III was poorly received by both critics and audiences.

Fackeln im Sturm (im Original North and South) ist eine Fernsehserie nach einem dreiteiligen Roman von John Jakes, die 15 Folgen in 3 Staffeln – produziert in den Jahren 1985, 1986 und 1994 – umfasst. Sie spielt im 19. Jahrhundert in den USA und handelt von der Geschichte zweier Familien, einer aus Pennsylvania, die eine Eisengießerei betreibt, und einer aus South Carolina, die eine Plantage und zahlreiche Sklaven besitzt.

Nord et Sud (télésuite)
Nord et Sud (North and South) est une télésuite historique américaine en quinze épisodes de 90 minutes, créée par David L. Wolper d'après l'œuvre éponyme de John Jakes et diffusée entre le 3 novembre 1985 et le 27 février 1994 sur le réseau ABC. En France, la télésuite a été diffusée à partir du 18 juillet 1988 sur Antenne 2.

Pólnoc-Poludnie
Północ-Południe (ang. North and South) to trylogia Johna Jakesa, na podstawie której w latach 1985-1986 oraz 1994 powstał miniserial telewizyjny, uznany później za jeden z najlepszych w historii telewizji.
Jest to historia przyjaźni dwojga Amerykanów, wychowanych w różnych kulturach i światopoglądach - na Północy i Południu, przedstawiona na przestrzeni lat, w okresie poprzedzającym wojnę secesyjną, samej wojny oraz po jej zakończeniu.
Ekranizacja, zwłaszcza dwóch pierwszych książek, została zrobiona z olbrzymim rozmachem. Stała się momentem przełomowym w karierze wielu aktorów, a na jej planie pojawiło się wiele niekwestionowanych gwiazd, np. Elizabeth Taylor, Olivia de Havilland.
