Normal probability plot of the residuals

A diagnostic test for the assumption of normal distribution of residuals in linear regression models. Each residual is plotted against its expected value under normality. A plot that is nearly linear suggests normal distribution of the residuals. A plot that obviously departs from linearity suggests that the error distribution is not normal.
