Polarlicht
Das Polarlicht (auch Aurora borealis = Nordlicht bzw. Aurora australis = Südlicht) ist eine Leuchterscheinung (genauer ein Elektrometeor), die beim Auftreffen geladener Teilchen des Sonnenwindes auf die Erdatmosphäre an den Polen der Erde hervorgerufen wird. Polarlichter sind meistens nördlich 60° nördlicher Breite bzw. südlich 60° südlicher Breite zu beobachten.
