New York
New York is a
state in the
Mid-Atlantic and
Northeastern regions of the
United States of America. With 62 counties, it is the country's
third most populous state. It is bordered by
Vermont,
Massachusetts,
Connecticut,
New Jersey, and
Pennsylvania, and shares a water border with
Rhode Island as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of
Quebec and
Ontario. Its five largest cities are
New York City (also the largest city in the United States),
Buffalo,
Rochester,
Yonkers, and
Syracuse.

L'État de New York est le troisième
État le plus peuplé des
États-Unis avec 19 millions d'habitants, moins que le
Texas, et deux fois moins que la
Californie. Il se trouve dans le Nord-Est du pays. Sa forme est grossièrement celle d'une pyramide renversée, dont le sommet, au Sud, serait la ville de New York, sur l'
océan Atlantique. Dans le Nord, l'État s'élargit, il partage une longue frontière avec le Canada. Si la ville de New York se trouve dans l'État de New York, une grande partie de son agglomération se trouve dans les États voisins du
Connecticut et du
New Jersey. En revanche, le Nord de l'État de New York est assez rural.
