Neukamerun (German for New Cameroon) was the name of Central African territories ceded by France to Germany in 1911. Upon taking office in 1907, Theodor Seitz, governor of German Kamerun, advocated for the acquisition of territories from the French Congo. Germany's only major river outlet from its Central African possessions was the Congo River, and more territories to the east of Kamerun would allow for better access to that waterway.

Als Neukamerun (bzw. „Kongo-Elsass“) wurde ein Gebiet in Zentralafrika bezeichnet, das infolge der Agadir-Krise durch das sog. Marokko-Kongo-Abkommen vom 4. November 1911 von Frankreich als Kompensation für koloniale Aktivitäten in Marokko an das Deutsche Kaiserreich abgetreten wurde. Ziel der deutschen Politik war es, einen direkten Zugang zum schiffbaren Kongo zu erhalten und, im Hinblick auf eine erwartete Aufteilung von Belgisch-Kongo an andere europäische Kolonialmächte, sich eine günstige Ausgangsposition zur Abrundung des deutschen Kolonialbesitzes in Mittelafrika zu verschaffen.
