Network Access Point (NAP)

Telecommunications term for the location where a call (data or voice) enters the telecommunications network.

One of the major interconnection points of the Internet. These support Internet traffic much like the world's busiest airports support airline traffic. NAPs interconnect smaller sub-networks to the Internet's main backbones. See also backbone.
