Neleus

Neleus was the son of Poseidon and Tyro, brother of Pelias. Tyro was married to Cretheus (with whom she had one son, Aeson) but loved Enipeus, a river god. She pursued Enipeus, who refused her advances. One day, Poseidon, filled with lust for Tyro, disguised himself as Enipeus and from their union was born Pelias and Neleus, twin boys. Tyro exposed her sons on a mountain and they were raised by a maid. When they reached adulthood, Pelias and Neleus found Tyro and killed her stepmother, Sidero, for having mistreated her. Sidero hid in a temple to Hera but Pelias killed her anyway, causing Hera's undying hatred of Pelias.

Neleus ist in der griechischen Mythologie der Sohn des Poseidon und der Tyro, sowie Zwillingsbruder des Pelias.Tyro war zwar mit König Kretheus von Iolkos vermählt, mit dem sie die gemeinsamen Söhne Aison, Pheres und Amython hatte. Sie liebte jedoch den Okeaniden Enipeus, einen Flussgott. Daraufhin versuchte sie ihn zu verführen, aber Enipeus widerstand ihren Annäherungsversuchen. Eines Tages näherte sich ihr Poseidon, der seinerseits in Leidenschaft für Tyro entflammt war, in Gestalt des Enipeus und vollzog mit der getäuschten Tyro das, wozu Enipeus aus Anstand heraus nicht in der Lage war. Aus dieser Verbindung stammten die Zwillinge Neleus und Pelias.

Neleus (gr. Νηλεύς) – w mitologii greckiej syn Posejdona i Tyro, bliźniaczy brat Peliasa. Jego żoną była Chloris, z którą miał synów: Pero, Alastora i Nestora.Wraz ze swym bratem Peliasem podrzucony, wychowany został przez pasterza. Neleus i Pelias stoczyli walkę o tron miasta Jolkos, którą wygrał Pelias. Neleus musiał wynieść się do Messenii, gdzie został królem Pylos. Do Neleusa zwrócił się Herakles z prośbą o oczyszczenie po zabójstwie Ifitosa. Król odmówił Herkulesowi, co wywołało wojnę, w której zginął on i wszyscy (oprócz Nestora) jego synowie.

Neleo è una figura della mitologia greca e si colloca tra gli Argonauti. Figlio di Poseidone e di Tiro e fratello gemello di Pelia, secondo altre versioni è figlio di Ippocoonte.Neleo fu re di Pilo ed ebbe in sposa Clori, dalla quale nacque la piccola Periclimene e altri dodici figli di cui il più famoso fu Nestore. Eracle, quando espugnò Pilo, uccise il padre e dieci dei suoi figli.
