Nejd

Nejd or Najd (literally "highland", ) is the central region of the Arabian Peninsula. It is also one of the main regions that comprise the modern state of Saudi Arabia and the location of the Saudi capital, Riyadh. Nejd also provided the setting for many of the great romances of classical Arabic poetry and later became the birthplace of the religious and political movement that gave rise to modern Saudi Arabia. The Saudi royal family, the Al Saud, are natives of Nejd.

Der Nadschd (auch Nedschd; ; engl. Nejd oder Najd) ist eine Landschaft und Provinz im Inneren Saudi-Arabiens.Die Landschaft umfasst 1,1 Millionen km² und liegt im Zentrum der  Arabischen Halbinsel. Sie wird im Westen vom Hedschas, im Norden von der Wüste Nefud, im Osten von al-Hasa und im Süden von der Wüste Rub al-Chali begrenzt. Wegen des Wüstenklimas ist das Land nur in den vorhandenen Oasen bewohnbar. Insgesamt leben vier Millionen Menschen in dieser Region. Riad, die Hauptstadt Saudi-Arabiens liegt im südlichen Nadschd.

De Nadjd (ook wel Nejd, Nedjed of Nedzjed) is de regio in Saoedi-Arabië waarin de hoofdstad Riyad gelegen is. Het Huis van Saoed is afkomstig uit deze streek. De Nadjd is een plateau van 760 tot - 1,520m hoogte. In het oostelijke gedeelte komen veel oases voor, terwijl in andere delen voornamelijk Bedoeïenen wonen.De regio werd heroverd door de wahhabieten van Abdoel Aziz al Saoed op de stam van de Rashidi's en het Ottomaanse Rijk gedurende de periode 1901 - 1912.
