The Negev (, Tiberian vocalization: Néḡeḇ; , an-Naqab) is the desert region of southern Israel which makes up the majority of Israel's official Southern District. The origin of the word Negev is from the Hebrew root denoting 'dry'. In the Bible the word Negev is also used for the direction 'south'.

Die Wüste Negev, auch Negeb, (hebräisch: נגב „die Trockene“; ) nimmt mit etwa 12.000 km² rund 60 Prozent des Staates Israel ein. Es leben jedoch nur knapp zehn Prozent der Bevölkerung in diesem Gebiet. Der Negev wird im Westen von der ägyptisch-israelischen Grenze und dem Gazastreifen, im Osten von der Arawa-Senke und im Norden von der Linie Gaza−En Gedi am Toten Meer begrenzt.

Negew (właściwie Ha-Negev, hebr. נֶגֶב; arab. النقب‎, an-Naqab) - pustynia wyżynna na południu Izraela.Geograficznie jest położona na wysokości od 500 do 900 metrów n.p.m. i zajmuje powierzchnię ponad 13 000 km². Zajmuje około 40% powierzchni  Izraela.Na Negewie występują jedynie rzeki okresowe. Słynny jest największy krater krasowy na Ziemi - krater Ramon.

Il deserto del Negev (pronuncia : neghev) è una regione che si trova nel sud dello stato d'Israele. Ha la forma di un triangolo isoscele rovesciato, della superficie di circa 13.000 km², con il vertice nel Mar Rosso, confinante a est con la Giordania, a ovest con l'Egitto e a nord con la striscia di Gaza (estremo nord-ovest), le regioni centrali israeliane, ed il mar Morto (estremo nord-est).Considerato come una risorsa dal Sionismo storico, il Neghev è stato oggetto di sviluppo a partire dalla fondazione dello Stato di Israele, con l'insediamento di industrie chimiche a Be'er Sheva, Sdom, Ramat Hovav e Zin, e di sviluppo agricolo lungo la valle dell'Arava che congiunge la depressione del Mar Morto con la costa del Mar Rosso.
