Nederlandse Spoorwegen
Nederlandse Spoorwegen or NS (Dutch railways) is the main
public transport railway company in the
Netherlands. It uses the tracks and other railway network infrastructure supplied by
ProRail, which used to be part of the NS as well.The Dutch railway system is said to be the most crowded network in Europe. In fact, the Dutch railway system is said to be the 3rd most crowded network in the world. The NS therefore announced that all railway traffic will be rerouted in a more efficient way starting in December 2006 to prevent the network from becoming dangerously overcrowded and to increase punctuality.

Les Nederlandse Spoorwegen (ou NS) sont la principale
entreprise ferroviaire des
Pays-Bas dans le secteur du transport des voyageurs. Issue de l'ancienne administration publique des chemins de fer néerlandais, dont elle a conservé le nom, elle assure environ 80 % du trafic ferroviaire voyageurs du pays en concurrence avec quelques entreprises privées nouvellement entrées sur ce marché. Elle a cédé le secteur fret à Railion Nederland (filiale de la
Deutsche Bahn il y a quelques années. Elle emprunte les voies du réseau ferré géré par
Prorail, organisme étatique, issu lui aussi des anciennes NS (la
Directive transport ferroviaire de 1991 exigeait une séparation des comptabilités des entreprises de transport et d'infrastructures).

Nederlandse Spoorwegen N.V. (Abkürzung NS, deutsch: Niederländische Eisenbahnen
AG, wörtlich übersetzt Niederändische Spuren-Wege) ist die ehemals staatliche Eisenbahngesellschaft der
Niederlande, die wie die
Deutsche Bahn AG in eine rechtlich unabhängige Aktiengesellschaft (in Staatsbesitz) umgewandelt wurde. Im Gegensatz zu
Deutschland ist das
Eisenbahnnetz nicht im Eigentum der NS, sondern auf die Gesellschaft ProRail unter der Aufsicht des Verkehrsministeriums ausgelagert.

Nederlandse Spoorwegen N.V. (acronimo NS, in italiano: Ferrovie dei Paesi Bassi SA) sono le ferrovie dei
Paesi Bassi. Fino a pochi anni fa erano statali, mentre ora sono state privatizzate. Al contrario di molti altri paesi, l'infrastruttura ferroviaria non è però proprietà delle NS, ma è stata data in concessione esterna alla società ProRail sotto il controllo del ministero del traffico.
