National Union of Teachers
The National Union of Teachers (NUT) is a  trade union of school teachers in England and Wales. It was founded in 1870 and is a member of the Trades Union Congress. Their annual conference is held during schools' Easter holidays. It has been in decline since the 1970's and has suffered from internal division within both its leadership and in the membership gernerally. The leadership is riven by esoteric debate between various factions with a General Secretary afraid to make any decision that may upset any of the various warring factions.
