National Film Registry

The National Film Registry is the registry of films selected by the United States National Film Preservation Board for preservation in the Library of Congress. The board, established by the National Film Preservation Act of 1988, was reauthorized in 1992, 1996, and 2005 by acts of Congress. The 1996 law also created the non-profit National Film Preservation Foundation, which is affiliated with the National Film Preservation Board but which raises money from the private sector.

Le National Film Registry est un ensemble de films sélectionnés par le National Film Preservation Board pour conservation à la Bibliothèque du Congrès aux États-Unis. Le National Film Registry recense environ 25 nouveaux films chaque année. Les films sont sélectionnés pour leur importance culturelle, historique ou esthétique. Pour être éligible, un film doit dater d'au moins 10 ans.

Das National Film Registry ist das Verzeichnis US-amerikanischer Filme, die als besonders erhaltenswert angesehen werden.Eine Aufgabe der US-amerikanischen Nationalbibliothek Library of Congress besteht darin, in den USA produzierte Filme für die Nachwelt dauerhaft zu erhalten. Besonderes Augenmerk wird dabei auf Filmproduktionen gerichtet, die im National Film Registry aufgeführt sind. Dieses Auswahlverzeichnis enthält Filme, die in kultureller, geschichtlicher oder ästhetischer Hinsicht als besonders bedeutend eingestuft worden sind.

Il National Film Registry è un archivio di film scelti dal National Film Preservation Board degli Stati Uniti per la loro preservazione nella Library of Congress. Venne istituito dal National Film Preservation Act del 1988, che è stato rinnovato dal Congresso nel 1992, 1996 e 2005. La legge del 1996 ha anche stabilito la creazione della fondazione non-profit National Film Preservation Foundation, che è affiliata alla National Film Preservation Board, ma che raccoglie donazione per il settore privato.

De National Film Registry bestaat uit meerdere films die zijn geselecteerd door het National Film Preservation Board om gearchiveerd te worden in de Library of Congress, de nationale bibliotheek van de Verenigde Staten die is gevestigd in Washington D.C. De archivering en selectie van deze films is geregeld in drie wetten uit 1992, 1996 en 2005 die zijn ontwikkeld door het Amerikaans congres.
