National League A (NLA) is a professional ice hockey league in Switzerland. It is the top tier of the Swiss hockey league system and of the two-tier National League. Prior to the 2007-08 season, the league was officially called Nationalliga A (German, , ). The NLA has the most attended hockey club in Europe, SC Bern, and is also the second most attended league within the same continent, only surpassed by the Swedish Elitserien.

Die National League A (früher Nationalliga A) ist die höchste Eishockey-Liga in der Schweiz. Sie besteht im Moment aus zwölf Mannschaften. Gespielt wird die Meisterschaft in einer ersten Phase (Qualifikation) als Rundenturnier. Danach ermitteln die besten acht Mannschaften den Schweizer Meister im Play-off-Stil, wobei die ersten Drei der Qualifikationstabelle ihren Gegner wählen dürfen. Der Qualifikationssieger entscheidet sich also für eine Mannschaft von den Rängen 5-8, danach wählt der Zweite aus den verbliebenen Mannschaften usw. Das Wahlrecht gilt nur für die erste Play-off Runde. Die letzten vier Mannschaften der Qualifikation ermitteln in den Playouts gleichzeitig die Mannschaft, die gegen den Meister der National League B (früher Nationalliga B) um den Klassenerhalt spielen muss.
