Narayana

Narayana (Sanskrit: नारायण; ) or Narayan is an important Sanskrit name for Vishnu and is in many contemporary vernaculars, a common Indian name. The name is also associated with Brahma and Krishna. He is also identified with, or as the son of, the original man, Purusha.But at its core, Nara-Narayana is further broken down where Nara means human and Narayana means the Supreme Divinity, or Vishnu. In the concept of Nara-Narayana, the human spirit Nara is the eternal companion of the Divine Narayana. Any human being with an awakened consciousness of divinity in him and who works overall for the welfare of humanity is a Nara-Narayana, an incarnation of Vishnu on earth working for the preservation of dharma or righteousness.

Narayana (Sanskrit, m., नारायण, ; wörtl.: "ewiger Mann", "Menschensohn" oder "der aus dem Wasser Kommende") ist eine populäre Form des Göttlichen im Hinduismus. Er wird meist mit Vishnu oder dessen Avatar Krishna gleichgesetzt, gelegentlich auch mit Brahma. Die Ikonographie zeigt Narayana ebenso wie Vishnu mit vier Armen sowie den Attributen Rad, Muschel, Lotos und Keule. In einer besonders bekannten Darstellung ruht Narayana, hier mit dem Beinamen Anantashayi, als menschengestaltiger Gott zwischen zwei Weltperioden auf einem Schlangenbett im kosmischen Ozean, dem Milchozean. Auf der Lotosblüte, die aus seinem Nabel entsteht, thront der vierköpfige Brahma, der in seinem Auftrag eine neue Schöpfung hervor bringt.

Nell'Induismo e nelle tradizioni religiose da esso derivate (come ad esempio l'Ayyavalismo), Narayana (in sanscrito नारायण, "colui che risiede sull'acqua") è una delle forme di Viṣṇu. Dotato di quattro braccia, e con i tradizionali oggetti (la conchiglia, la mazza, il fiore di loto e il disco). E' dall'ombelico di Narayana, disteso sul serpente Ananta Śesa, nell'oceano primordiale, che sboccia un fiore di loto, dal quale viene generato Brahma. Viṣṇu/Narayana ricopre un ruolo di primo piano nella creazione dell'universo: è in lui, infatti, che la creazione viene riassorbita, ed è da lui che tutto ha di nuovo origine.
