Muspelheim

Muspelheim ("Flameland"), also called Muspel (Old Norse Múspellsheimr and Múspell, respectively), is the realm of fire in Norse Mythology. It is home to the fire giants, and their master, Surtr. It is fire; and the land to the north, Niflheim, is ice. The two mixed and created water from the melting ice in Ginnungagap. Norse people used to swear, "By the fires of Muspelheim." Sparks from Muspelheim created the planets, comets and stars.

Muspelheim (altnordisch Muspellsheimr "Welt des Muspell"; auch Muspellheim, Muspellsheim) ist in der Altnordischen Mythologie das Feuerreich im Süden.Es ist der Gegenpol zum Eisreich Niflheim im Norden. Nach der Schöpfungsgeschichte sind beide Welten im ewigen Weltengrund Ginnungagap durch den Willen Fimbultyrs entstanden und haben durch ihr Zusammentreffen den Riesen Ymir erschaffen und damit das Sein der Materie ermöglicht.In Muspelheim herrscht der Riese Surt; es ist die Heimat der Feuerriesen.

Jest ogniem, podczas gdy leżąca na północ od niego kraina Niflheim jest lodem. W wyniku zmieszania obu w przepaści Ginnungagap, z topniejącego lodu powstała woda. Múspellheimr ("terra delle fiamme"), chiamata anche Múspell, è il regno del fuoco nella mitologia norrena. È la dimora dei Giganti del fuoco (chiamati anche "figli di Muspell") e del loro capo, Surtr. È costituito da puro fuoco, in opposizione alla terra del nord, Niflheimr, che è ghiaccio. I due regni si incontrarono e crearono l'acqua dalla fusione del ghiaccio nel Ginnungagap.
